A Proven Impact Model

Transforming education into real-world innovation that changes lives across Africa

African students in lab

Since 2018, Academic City University has awarded scholarships to 60+ students, including nine full scholarships to graduates of the African Science Academy, a girls-only STEM school founded by the African Gifted Foundation.

These are bright, young people from across Africa who dream of using science and technology to change lives. Today, they are founders, researchers, and innovators shaping Africa's future.

Innovation in Action: A COVID-19 Success Story

One inspiring example came in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. While the world was in lockdown and searching for answers, two Academic City students, Andrewla and Barnabas, decided to act.

They built one of West Africa's first locally made ventilators, proving that African solutions can solve African problems.

Today, they co-lead Goliath Robotics, a venture incubated at Academic City that designs smart wheelchair controllers and other assistive technologies. Their innovation inspired a partnership with Northeastern University to create a BioInnovation Center developing affordable health solutions for rural West Africa.

This is what your support makes possible: education that inspires action and builds a better future for Africa.
