Academic City alumnus joins Apple UK, inspires next generation of African tech talent

Faith Sobe Cyril, Class of 2024, secured employment as a Software Engineer at Apple in the United Kingdom immediately after his graduation. This marks another milestone in the university’s growing track record of producing world-class talent.

From Laterbiokorshie, Accra, to the corridors of one of the world’s top technology companies, Faith’s journey is an inspiring story of talent meeting opportunity. His early education at Seven Great Princes Academy and Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School nurtured his love for science and mathematics. Representing PRESEC in the National Science and Maths Quiz honed his analytical skills, laying the foundation for a career in STEM.

His turning point came through the Presidential Scholarship from Academic City, awarded after his team’s victory in the Shark’s Quiz.

“The scholarship was transformative. It removed the financial burden, challenged me to excel academically, and provided mentorship that shaped my leadership and soft skills,” Faith said.

During his time at Academic City, Faith immersed himself in both academics and extracurricular activities, including SRC and organising the ACity Tech Expo twice with colleagues. He credits the university’s holistic approach, especially its Career Services department, for providing valuable internship opportunities that prepared him for the competitive global job market.

Today, at Apple, Faith applies his passion for mathematics, logic, and problem-solving to developing innovative software solutions. Beyond his professional achievements, he is committed to mentoring young African engineers and helping to cultivate talent that can compete on the global stage.

“My goal is to inspire and empower the next generation of African innovators. Academic City played a pivotal role in shaping that vision,” he said.
