A graduate of Academic City University, Mahami Wisdom, is making waves in Ghana’s technology and engineering sector with groundbreaking contributions to robotics for the oil and gas industry.

Mahami, who is a beneficiary of the Academic City’s Presidential Scholarship, graduated with a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, is currently the Robotics Development Manager at Fortress AI Solutions. He leads a multidisciplinary team in the design and launch of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) used for oil tank inspection, corrosion scanning and cleaning technology previously dominated by international players.

His journey from Nalerigu in the North East Region of Ghana to becoming a leader in robotics innovation is evidence of perseverance, talent and opportunity. Raised in a low-income household, Mahami excelled academically, earning multiple leadership and academic awards in senior high school. His big break came when Academic City awarded him a Presidential Scholarship, covering his tuition, accommodation, food and monthly stipend.

“That call from the President of Academic City changed everything for me. It gave me the platform to develop my skills and confidence, and to dream bigger than I ever thought possible,” he recalls.

Mahami’s leadership at Fortress AI Solutions has not only resulted in the successful development of Africa-built ROVs but also the creation of over 20 jobs, about 80% of which are held by fellow Academic City graduates.

Building on this spirit of innovation, he also ventured into agriculture. While at Academic City, Mahami began an agricultural project developing incubators for local farmers. After graduating, he grew it into Crosslinks Farms, a business that continues to design and build incubators, creating both direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Reflecting on his time at Academic City, Mahami credits world-class lecturers, hands-on learning, and leadership training as the foundation for his achievements.

He urges financially challenged but bright students to consider applying for the Presidential Scholarship, describing it as a life-changing opportunity that can redefine possibilities and realign you to the path of your destiny.
